In Ontario dental hygienist must be registered by the college of dental hygienist of Ontario (CDHO) which sets the standards for education, ethics and practice.
To practice in Ontario, a dental hygienist must complete a recognized dental hygiene program pass the national board exams and be registered with the college of dental hygienist of Ontario (CDHO) Dental hygienist operating their own independent dental hygiene practice must also apply and receive self initiation authorization from the CDHO
Since 2007 registered dental hygienist has been able to practice independently from dentist. This means we can open and run clinics that provide only dental hygiene services.
A Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is a licensed oral health professional, who works closely with dentist to provide preventative dental care, patient education, and certain clinical services . We will evaluate your oral health and provide recommendations for areas of improvement and monitor your progress in an attempt to achieve overall health we work collaboratively with you your dentist and other healthcare providers to ensure you are receiving proper care.

Anytime after the age of two is a great time to bring in your child for a cleaning and to familiarize them with the dental setting. This may only be a ride in the chair, followed by a demonstration on how to brush and floss their teeth, and if the appointment is going well, we will finish the cleaning.
This will vary from person to person based on their daily, oral hygiene routine, how prone they are to build up a plaque and staining, gum, health, degree of bone loss, personal preference, and more. Recommended duration between cleanings can range from 3-4-6 or nine month intervals at your appointment we can discuss which option is best for you.
